What is GDPR?

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. What is AVG?

AVG is the Dutch name for GDPR. It's exactly the same as GDPR.

GDPR impact on your passport photo service

Passport photos are sensitive personal data and as such subject to the GDPR. Therefore if you run a passport photo service and you intend to save the passport photos you need to implement GDPR compliant procedures and safety measures. What do I need to do if I do NOT want to save passport photos?

1. Check if the Auto-Archive option is disabled. More info here....
2. Delete old archives
3. Delete old passport photos of customers you may have saved on your system(s)
4. Do not use email to deliver a digital passport photo to your customer. Email is not secure and it usually saves your messages (and data) which is exactly what you should not do.


How to proceed with digital passport photos?

You can save digital passport photos on a SD card and sell this card to your customer. This is a standard feature in our systems.
